Man Utd lose massive sponsorship deal worth over $280 million due to fan protests
Turns out that Manchester United fans protests had a lot more impact than just causing the delay of the clash between the Red Devils and Liverpool and Manchester Uniteds withdrawal from the European Super League.
Rather, its hit Manchester United where it really hurts: their wallet.
How much so? Well, according to new reports, to the tune of an eye-popping 200 million ($281.6 million).
According to English publication The Observer, United were in the process of negotiating a very lucrative ten-year contract with The Hut Group (THG), an e-commerce firm that owns the brand Myprotein.
Myprotein was set to become the new training kit sponsor for Manchester United, replacing Aon starting from July 1st, and this deal would have lasted for the next decade, bringing in hundreds of millions of pounds (or dollars) for the Red Devils.
But, following the massive fan protests on May 2nd, THG decided on May 7th that it wasnt best to go ahead with the deal.
Now, Man United will be scrambling to find a replacement for Aon, as their deal with the financial services firm is set to expire on June 30th.
Ronaldo, Dybala score 100th Juventus goal in Sassuolo win
Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala hit a century of goals each as Juventus players in Wednesday nights win over Sassuolo. The Old Lady secured a 3-1 victory over the Black and Greens as they hang onto their slim hopes of landing a Champions League spot for next season.
For Ronaldo, the significance of his goal is that he is now the first player in history to score 100+ goals for three different clubs, having registered 118 and 450 goals for Manchester United and Real Madrid respectively. Additionally, the Portuguese superstar is also the first player to reach the century mark for the Bianconeri inside his first three seasons at the club.
On the contrary, Paulo Dybala became the first non-European player to have netted 100+ times in all competitions for Juventus (excluding those who have played for Italy).

Juve to be kicked out of Serie A next season if they dont withdraw from the Super League
Juventus are one of only three clubs left in the European Super League, but their steadfastness to this cause could cost them dearly next season as the president of the Italian Football Federation has threatened them with expulsion from Serie A should they fail to withdraw.
FIGC (the Italian Football Federation) president Gabriele Gravina told Naples radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli: If Juventus insist on the Super League, they will be excluded from next Serie A.
Gravina admitted that it would be sad for the fans to see the Bianconeri kicked out of the Italian top-flight, but the FIGC executive stressed that rules are rules: they apply to everyone.
Gianluigi Buffon announces hes leaving Juventus at end of season
Gianluigi Buffon has announced that his partnership with Juventus will come to a conclusion at the end of the current campaign. The 43-year-old shot-stopper, who is back for a second spell with the Turin giants, will be saying arrivederci to his current club where he has set numerous records, including recently becoming the second oldest player ever to appear in Serie A. Hes also still the third most expensive goalkeeper of all time, as Juventus paid €52 million to purchase him from Parma back in 2001.
It will also be quite interesting to see where Buffon will end up next, as he said earlier this year that he wasnt quite ready to hang up his gloves. The veteran did spend a year at PSG during the 2018/2019 term, so another spell abroad isnt out of the realm of possibility.
